1. Adjectivele provenite din substantive

Exemple : flax - flaxen; gold - golden; wood - wooden; etc.

Prefix + substantiv + sufix;

2. Adjectivele provenite din verbe

Exemplu : a big-framed man;

Se alcatuiesc astfel:

a) adj + participiu(trecut sau prezent);

b) subst. + participiu ; snow-covered peaks;

c) adverb + participiu ; well-meant;

d) verb + substantiv ; a telltale signal;

e) verb + verb; a would-be champion;

f) verb + adverb; a runaway Negro;

3. Alte adjective

Exemplu : downright;

Se alcatuiesc astfel:

a)adv + adj. ;

b)prepozitie + subst.: overground;

c)numeral+subst. :a ten-year-old boy ;

4. Gradele de comparatie sunt la fel ca in limba romana;

. Ca si la pronume avem mai multe feluri:

a) adjective posesive; my, our,his etc.

b) adjective demonstrative; This-These/That-Those etc.

c) adjective relative ; aceleasi ca la pronume;

d) adjective nehotarate ; ca la pronume;
